Ex California collection. The Navajo people (or Dine) of the Southwestern United States are currently the largest Native American tribe in North America, with an estimated tribal population of 300,000. The Navajo Nation constitutes an independent governmental body which manages the Navajo Indian reservation in the Four Corners area of the United States. The traditional Navajo language is still largely spoken throughout the region, although most Navajo speak English fluently as well. The Navajo people call themselves Dine, which is translated "The People" in English. Squash Blossom wears traditional Navajo clothing adorned with silver handmade traditional jewelry including a squash blossom necklace and concho belt. "Navajo girls are just like other little girls all over the world. They wonder where the rains come from and who holds up the stars in the sparkling sky - and they wonder what the world will be like when they grow up." - Susan Kliewer
